The Prosecutor of the Court of First Instance of Rhodope has issued a statement regarding the tragic accident in Greece that claimed the lives of three Albanian citizens.
According to reports, the prosecutor has filed charges of involuntary manslaughter, dangerous injury due to negligence, and reckless driving against the Bulgarian truck driver involved in the crash.
The truck driver is currently hospitalized, out of life-threatening condition, and has undergone surgery. Once he recovers, he will be questioned further to clarify the full circumstances of the accident, which left three victims who burned alive inside their vehicle.
Witnesses said the tires first caught fire, and within seconds both the car and the truck were engulfed in flames.
The victims of the tragic accident were Viktor Bushi, Klarenc Kacaj, and Marianka Bushi-Aliraj.
Marianka was seated in the back of the car next to Kacaj’s 49-year-old wife, who was the only survivor after managing to escape the burning vehicle.
The four had been returning from a wedding. In another vehicle, also involved in the accident, were Viktor and Marianka’s daughter, her husband, and their two children aged 4 and 6.
When the truck hit the car driven by the 59-year-old man, it was pushed into the second vehicle carrying the young family.
