Fatal Car Crash in Pavlan, Peja: Vehicle Catches Fire, One Person Killed

A tragic car accident in the early hours of Sunday morning has claimed the life of one person in the village of Pavlan, near Peja, western Kosovo. According to police, the vehicle lost control at high speed, overturned, and burst into flames, killing the driver.

Spokesperson for the Peja regional police, Driton Rugova, confirmed the incident to Gazeta Sinjali, stating that the accident occurred at approximately 2:20 a.m. on June 1.

“The vehicle, suspected to have been traveling at high speed toward Peja, lost control upon entering Pavlan village. It overturned and ended up in a field, where it caught fire with the occupant still inside,” Rugova reported.

Emergency response teams — including police units, firefighters, and medical staff — arrived at the scene but were unable to save the individual. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The body was transported to the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Pristina for an autopsy, under the order of the state prosecutor.

Investigation Ongoing

Authorities have not yet released the identity of the victim. An investigation is underway to determine the full circumstances behind the crash, including whether alcohol or mechanical failure may have played a role.
