Fatmiri Spahiu, a serving Kosovo Police officer, has raised concerns that his son, former Kosovo Police officer Arbnor Spahiu, is being mistreated by Serbia following his arrest on Sunday. Arbnor Spahiu had resigned from the police in early November 2022.

Fatmiri Spahiu stated that his son had left the police to seek a better life and was working in Germany with his wife. “He left the Police to go work abroad for a better life, and his wife was with him. They both were stopped, but they released his wife after a check, while my son wasn’t,” said Spahiu.

Spahiu confirmed they are in communication with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which has informed them that necessary procedures are being followed. However, he expressed disappointment, stating: “We haven’t received any call from the Ministry of Interior or the Police, institutions where Arbnori served for many years,” he told RTV Dukagjini.

Arbnor Spahiu, a former member of the Kosovo Police Special Unit, is being accused by Serbia of “aggravated murder” in connection with the Banjska incident. He has been remanded in custody for one month.
