Member of the Guxo Party, Faton Peci, has announced that he will file a criminal complaint against journalist Lirim Mehmetaj, RTV Dukagjini owner Ekrem Lluka, and the host of the talk show Debat Plus, Ermal Panduri, following what he described as “offensive and defamatory remarks” made during a televised debate.

In a statement published on Facebook, Peci claimed that during last night’s episode of Debat Plus on RTV Dukagjini, journalist Lirim Mehmetaj called him a “criminal” and compared him to former Serbian dictator Slobodan Milošević.

According to Peci, the comment constitutes a “serious insult and defamation,” damaging both his personal and political integrity.

“Such a public statement is a grave offense not only against me as an individual but also against the citizens I represent — citizens who suffered directly under the regime of the war criminal Milošević,” Peci stated.

He added that he intends to pursue legal measures against those responsible, emphasizing that political disagreement cannot justify public defamation or hate speech.

The management of RTV Dukagjini has not yet issued a response regarding Peci’s announcement.

The televised exchange which quickly sparked reactions online underscores ongoing tensions between public figures and the media in Kosovo, where accusations of political bias, personal attacks, and defamation claims have become increasingly common in recent political discourse.
