As Kosovo faces continued political gridlock, Acting Minister of Agriculture Faton Peci has confirmed that a meeting took place between Vetëvendosje (VV) and Nisma in recent days. However, he acknowledged that no significant progress has been made in breaking the parliamentary deadlock.
“We always come with the hope that something has moved on the opposition’s side,” Peci told reporters ahead of the scheduled Assembly constitutive session.
“The truth is, citizens expect us to offer solutions.”
According to Peci, the only path forward is political reflection from the opposition parties that have so far refused to approve the formation of a commission—a prerequisite for proceeding to a vote on the Speaker of Parliament.
Meeting with Nisma Confirmed, But No Breakthrough
Peci revealed that a meeting with Nisma was held approximately two to three days ago but clarified that no new developments have emerged from it.
“There was a meeting two or three days ago. I’m not sure at what level it was conducted, but VV members have confirmed it took place,” he stated.
“Up to this point, I have no knowledge that anything has moved forward.”
Nisma Viewed as Potential Coalition Partner
Despite the lack of movement, Peci emphasized that Nisma is still seen as a potential coalition partner by VV.
The 25th attempt to constitute the Assembly is underway, as Kosovo continues to struggle with a prolonged institutional deadlock. Political leaders face mounting pressure from both citizens and the international community to reach a compromise and form a functioning government.
