Following the meeting with political leaders, GUXO representative Faton Peci stated that discussions took place in an atmosphere some had prematurely dismissed as a “farce” before the debate even began.
Proposals for Resolution
“During the discussions, two proposals were presented for resolving the situation following the Constitutional Court’s judgment,” Peci said. “We should not become part of a ‘fountain of wishes’ when interpreting the judgment,” he emphasized, referring to various interpretations that emerged.
Peci also noted that he himself presented a concrete proposal: reaching a political agreement for the election of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, making it part of a joint package to overcome the crisis.
“The spirit I aimed for during the discussion, some called a farce; these epithets were used even before we entered discussions. There were two proposals for a solution after the Constitutional Court’s judgment. We should not be part of the fountain of wishes on how the Constitutional Court’s judgment is interpreted, because there are some terms where the members of the court must take into account the 30-day deadline. I also had a proposal: to have a political agreement for the election of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, to have a package deal,” Peci explained.
