An unexploded ordnance suspected to date back to World War II was discovered yesterday afternoon in Freedom Park, prompting a swift response from security forces and specialized demining teams.

According to Sinjali sources, the case was reported around 13:00 by a citizen, A.S., who alerted the police to the presence of a suspicious object near “Brahim Ademi” Street. Police patrols secured the area and notified specialized units.

At approximately 16:50, the KFOR Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit arrived and confirmed the object was a French-made artillery shell, measuring 75 mm in diameter, without a detonator and unfired. It is believed to have been left over from World War II.

The shell was removed around 17:00 and transported to Camp “BONSTEEL” for safe disposal. The operation was completed without incidents.
