Final Results of the Population Census: Kosovo has 1,602,515 Resident Inhabitants

The Kosovo Agency of Statistics presented today the final results of the population census.

The Acting Director of the Kosovo Agency of Statistics, Avni Kastrati, announced that officially 1,602,515 residents have been registered.

“The entire project is evaluated at the highest level. 93% of households are owner-occupied, and very few are rented. The number of family households has increased by 69,505. The gender gap has decreased from 11,975 in 2011 to 5,538 in 2024, representing a reduction of 53.8%. The average age of the population is 34.84. Kosovo is the second country in Europe with a young population, though this remains to be confirmed. The illiteracy rate has decreased from 3.85% to 2.27%,” said Kastrati.
