Peace in Ukraine is closer than ever since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, Finnish President Alexander Stubb said on Tuesday.

“We are quite close to an agreement,” Stubb stated during an event in Helsinki, according to Sky News.

The Finnish leader also revealed that negotiations between U.S., Ukrainian, and European officials currently involve the following key documents:

  • A framework document, which at this stage consists of a 20-point plan;
  • A document on security guarantees, distinguishing between formal guarantees and the “coalition of the willing”;
  • A document outlining Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction.

These details align with comments made a day earlier by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who also hinted that talks were progressing.

Stubb has served as one of the European mediators in discussions between the United States and Ukraine.
A long-time supporter of Ukraine, the Finnish president reportedly strengthened his relationship with U.S. President Donald Trump during a golf game in Florida, where the two discussed the conflict and negotiation efforts.
