Acting Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Sveçla, reacted after a fire affected part of the Comodita factory in Gjakovë on the night of January 8, 2026.
He stated that, thanks to the efforts of firefighters from six neighboring municipalities in addition to Gjakovë, the fire was successfully brought under control.
Sveçla emphasized in a Facebook post that it now remains for professional teams from the Emergency Management Agency (AME) to investigate and determine the exact cause of the fire.
“I take this opportunity to thank each member of the AME, every firefighter, the search-and-rescue teams, members of the Kosovo Security Force (FSK), local institutions, and every citizen for their dedication and solidarity shown during these days,” he wrote.
