The Municipality of Podujeva is closely monitoring with concern the spread of fires in several areas of the city, including the village of Llapashticë.
Today, the Mayor of Podujeva, Shpejtim Bulliqi, visited Llapashticë, where fires have spread to wheat fields.
“Together with firefighters and our police, I closely followed the situation, and they are doing everything possible to manage it. Fortunately, thanks to the swift response, greater damage was avoided. Burning of stubble and clearing land with fire during this summer period is a very harmful practice.
Besides the risk of fire spreading and property damage, this behavior destroys the wildlife living in these areas and severely harms the fertility of the soil,” Mayor Bulliqi said.
He called on citizens to immediately stop this dangerous practice, as it poses a serious threat to life, property, and the environment.
“In these days of high temperatures, I ask citizens to remain vigilant and exercise increased care by acting with full responsibility towards the environment, properties, and shared safety,” Bulliqi emphasized.
