The first-ever “Kosovo Boccia 2025” tournament was held on September 14, 2025, at the Sports Hall in North Mitrovica, bringing together athletes with disabilities to compete in both team and individual events.
Starting at 11:00 AM, participants lined up with their wheelchairs to take part in this historic championship. Boccia, a ball sport similar to bowling, is played locally, nationally, and internationally by athletes with disabilities.
The Mayor of North Mitrovica, Erden Atiq, congratulated the federation for the initiative and expressed gratitude for supporting the project:
“We are very pleased to have had the opportunity to be close to you. I will strive to remain near you. Best of luck!”
Meanwhile, Murat Murati, President of the Kosovo Boccia Federation (FPBOK), highlighted that the championship started in North Mitrovica and will continue in other municipalities:
“Welcome to the opening of this championship. For the first time, a team competition is taking place in this hall. Participants will receive 50 euros per diem.”
Luan Çabra, Sports Director of the federation, wished competitors success at international levels:
“I hope you will get certified internationally as well. Best of luck!”
Six teams competed in this first tournament: KPBO Blinaja, KPBO Hendifer, KPBO Prishtina 01, KPBO Minatori, KPBO Llapi, and KPBO Maja e Pashtrikut. The so-called “Game of Boccia” was organized at the sports hall, with participants divided into groups enjoying the competition.
The event was supported by the Ministry of Culture, Youth, and Sports, in cooperation with the Kosovo Paralympic Committee and the Municipality of North Mitrovica as part of the 2025 agreement.
