Talks between Ukraine and Russia concluded today, sources told Reuters.

Representatives of both countries were meeting with American mediators in Abu Dhabi.

As with yesterday, very few details have been made public about the discussions held today between the United States, Ukraine, and Russia.

According to a spokesperson for the United Arab Emirates government, the talks focused on the “unresolved elements” of the peace framework proposed by the US — a plan initially drafted by the United States and Russia, and later modified by the US and Europe.

While the trilateral talks were taking place in Abu Dhabi, Russian attacks in Ukraine continued.

Sky News reports that the discussions involved “direct engagement” between officials from both countries and were held in a “constructive and positive atmosphere.” This may suggest that Russian and Ukrainian representatives were in the same room, rather than the US acting solely as a shuttle mediator, although the statement is not definitive.

It is still unclear whether further talks between the parties will take place in the coming days.
