“The future of the Western Balkans is in the European Union,” said Antonio Costa, the new president of the European Council.
He hosted a dinner with the leaders of the Western Balkans, including Kosovo’s Prime Minister Albin Kurti.
From there, Costa delivered an ambitious message, which he also shared with a joint photograph.
In the same photograph are Kurti and Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić—only five days after the attack on Ibër-Lepenc, which Kurti stated was carried out by professionals directed by Serbia.
This attack was not mentioned by Antonio Costa in his announcement, aside from the message about the future of the Western Balkans.
“The future of the Western Balkans is in the EU. Let’s work to make it happen. This is the message I conveyed, together with Kaja Kallas and Josep Borrell, at tonight’s dinner with the leaders of #WesternBalkans,” he wrote on “X.”
