The Chairman of Vetëvendosje (VV) and Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, visited the family of Rexhep Selimi on the fifth anniversary of his arrest and transfer to The Hague.
Marking the occasion, Kurti reiterated that Selimi’s continued detention is unjust, emphasizing his long-standing contribution to Kosovo’s political and liberation movements.
“Today marks five years since our MP, Rexhep Selimi, has been unjustly held in pretrial detention in The Hague. Since 2010, when our movement first participated in elections, Rexhep Selimi has always been among the victors — among the liberators — one of the strongest and most honest voices of our political representation,” Kurti stated.
The Prime Minister, accompanied by Deputy Speaker of the Assembly Albulena Haxhiu, Organizational Secretary Alim Rama, ministers, MPs, and activists, visited the Selimi family in Pristina, where they were welcomed by Shqipe Mehmeti-Selimi, VV MP, former KLA fighter, and wife of Rexhep Selimi.
Kurti emphasized that Selimi’s absence is deeply felt, expressing hope for his swift release and return to continue his work for Kosovo.
“Rexhep Selimi is missed deeply. We hope and demand that he is released as soon as possible — to return among us and continue his work for the country he loved and gave everything for.”
