The Balkans remain a fragile region amid major geopolitical shifts. Fred Fleitz, former Deputy Assistant to President Donald Trump and Chief of Staff of the U.S. National Security Council, told Andrea Danglli on Off the Record that there is potential for conflict between Kosovo and Serbia.
“I think there is potential for conflict, but with Grenell’s leadership, a close eye has been kept on the situation,” he said.
“I believe it is in President Trump’s interest, together with Ambassador Grenell, to monitor the situation in this region. I know he is a very good friend of the Albanians, but on this issue you can speak directly with Ambassador Grenell,” A2CNN reports.
Over the past year, Trump has repeatedly stated that he has managed to prevent a Kosovo-Serbia conflict, citing it among the wars he was able to stop, alongside those between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Pakistan and India, and others.
