The Kosovo Energy Corporation (KEK) has announced that KFOR has declared KEK’s operational area a “No-Fly Zone,” with a special focus on prohibiting the use of drones, in order to safeguard the security of the country’s critical energy infrastructure.

The decision is based on Law No. 06/L-014 on Critical Infrastructure, which classifies KEK’s facilities and assets as part of this vital infrastructure for the Republic of Kosovo.

“This infrastructure represents the foundation of electricity supply for all citizens and the national economy, making it an essential and irreplaceable product for daily life and national development,” KEK’s announcement stated.

According to KFOR’s official decision, Ref. No. BKPR:0736/25, the ban includes all flights over KEK’s operational area, particularly those carried out by unmanned aerial systems (drones).

KEK emphasized that this decision is part of broader measures to protect and secure Kosovo’s energy infrastructure, stressing that both local and international security institutions remain committed to ensuring its uninterrupted and safe operation.
