The Ministry of Defense in Albania has reported that, in coordination with local authorities and relevant institutions, teams are actively monitoring the situation across the country following heavy rainfall over the past 24 hours.
According to the ministry, Shkodër County has been the most affected by intense rainfall. Other regions of the country have not reported significant infrastructure damage or flooding in homes due to weather conditions.
“Since this morning, AKMC and FA teams have been monitoring the situation in Vau Dejës Municipality, where conditions are now returning to normal. Water levels have significantly decreased, and in some homes, the water has completely receded,” the statement reads.
In areas where homes were at risk from stream overflows, authorities are using excavators to divert water flow and construct protective embankments.
“Work is also ongoing in Fushë Arrëz Municipality and the administrative unit of Gur i Zi to clear debris from roads affected by rockfalls, ensuring normal traffic flow. Other regions of the country have not reported infrastructure or housing issues due to weather conditions,” the ministry added.
