The U.S. military has confirmed that it used heavy B-1 bombers in overnight strikes inside Iran.
“Last night, U.S. B-1 bombers struck deep inside Iran to degrade Iranian ballistic missile capabilities,” said United States Central Command (CENTCOM) in an official statement.
The deployment of the B-1 aircraft was first reported by the founder of the Military Airlift Tracking Alliance, a group of approximately 30 open-source analysts who monitor military and government flight activity.
According to reports, the Israeli-American airstrikes resulted in the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, along with several senior military commanders.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump has not ruled out the option of sending U.S. ground troops into Iran if deemed necessary.
