The Minister of Justice, Albulena Haxhiu, was interviewed today by the Special Prosecutor’s Office in Pristina. Her interview will continue tomorrow.
Haxhiu, according to the announcement of the Special Prosecutor’s Office, has been summoned in order to clarify her statement given on the medium TV Dukagjini, on the show “Debat Plus” on July 2, 2024, regarding possible meetings and discussions with prosecutors and judges for certain cases, as well as her post on the Facebook social network dated July 20, 2024, regarding the escapes that have taken place from Kosovo prisons.
On Saturday, she said that the state authorities have information that “at least in some cases”, criminal groups connected to the government in Serbia have helped and organized the escape of prisoners in Kosovo.
“It is important to emphasize the fact that the escape of some persons who are being sought by the responsible institutions in the Republic of Kosovo is taking place only in one direction: that of the territory of Serbia. The information of our bodies suggests that at least in some cases, these escapes were created, organized, co-organized and facilitated by criminal groups connected to power structures in the territory of Serbia”, said Haxhiu.
The Minister of Justice had said that Serbia’s support for refugees in Kosovo “is undoubtedly intentional, organized and connected with the purpose of harming the public, constitutional and legal order of Kosovo.
“Offering the territory of Serbia as a shield against the prosecution of the criminal bodies of our Republic serves the crime and openly contributes to the violation of the institutional and legal stability of the Republic of Kosovo. The systematic frequency of these cases in this period has no other meaning than the aggressive political goal of our northern neighbor”, said Haxhiu.
In her long address on social networks, Haxhiu further said that due to “contradictory” information, it cannot be known for sure if Faton Hajrizi was killed.
“The information these days was contradictory, so we cannot know for sure whether he was killed at all and if so, whether he was killed in the territory of Serbia or the Republika Srpska in Bosnia and Herzegovina, including other important and necessary details. for investigation. A wide and deep investigation is definitely needed to clarify the truth of this case”, she said.
