Three forensic psychiatry experts appeared before the Basic Court in Prishtina to present their report on Bedri Shabani.
Shabani’s defense had requested a psychiatric examination and a postponement during the previous session. This request was approved by Judge Rrahman Beqiri.
According to Koha, the Institute of Forensic Psychiatry concluded that Bedri Shabani is capable of standing trial.
A similar finding had been provided by the prison doctor in Gjilan, Ngadhënjim Rexhepi, who is also a psychiatrist.
The sessions in this case have been postponed twice.
- The first postponement occurred on 22 September, when Shabani’s lawyer, Besnik Berisha, had another urgent hearing.
- The second was on 13 November, when the accused requested the Basic Court in Prishtina to delay the session, stating that he was undergoing intensive therapy and was unsure of his whereabouts.
Again, the prison psychiatrist, Ngadhënjim Rexhepi, confirmed Shabani’s condition.
The sessions have now proceeded with the testimony of the forensic psychiatry experts, contributing to the court’s evaluation of Shabani’s ability to participate in his defense.
