Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has stated that Israel is committing war crimes in Gaza, with “thousands of innocent Palestinians being killed, as well as Israeli soldiers.”

Olmert, who served as prime minister from 2006 to 2009, wrote in the newspaper Haaretz that “the current Israeli government is conducting a war without purpose, without clear objectives or planning, and with no chance of success.”

“Since its establishment, the State of Israel has never waged such a war… the criminal gang led by Benjamin Netanyahu has set an unprecedented precedent in Israel’s history,” Olmert said.

He further warned that the Palestinian casualties “have reached monstrous proportions” in recent weeks, according to The Guardian.

While Olmert previously denied that Israel was committing war crimes in Gaza, he recently acknowledged that “what we are doing in Gaza now is a destructive war: indiscriminate, unlimited, brutal, and criminal killings of civilians. It is the result of government policy—deliberately, maliciously, and irresponsibly executed.”
