Dan Norris, former Labour MP, has been arrested for the second time on suspicion of multiple sexual offenses. The 66-year-old remains under investigation for the alleged rape of one woman and has also been arrested on suspicion of rape of a second woman and sexual assault of a third woman.
Norris, former Mayor of West England, was first arrested in April 2025 on suspicion of sexual offenses against a girl, child abduction, and the rape of a woman. Authorities are no longer investigating the child-related charges.
All alleged offenses reportedly occurred between 2000 and 2020. Norris is also being investigated for misconduct in public office. He is currently released on bail.
He was elected as a Labour MP for North East Somerset and Hanham in July 2024, defeating Conservative MP Jacob Rees-Mogg. The Labour Party suspended Norris immediately after his first arrest. He now sits as an independent MP, though he has not attended House of Commons sessions since the arrest. He remains able to vote by proxy.
Norris’ term as Mayor of West England ended in May 2025, succeeded by Helen Godwin. The Avon and Somerset Police noted that sexual offense investigations are sensitive and complex, and may take significant time to conclude.
