Former Serbian diplomat Nebojsha Vujovic has commented on the visit of Serbia’s chief diplomat, Marko Gjurić, to the United States. According to Vujovic, Gjurić was shown a secret and binding agreement by U.S. Senator Marco Rubio for the recognition of the independence of the Republic of Kosovo, reports Express.

Vujovic claims this was the main reason Gjurić was invited to the U.S.—to be formally presented, on behalf of the U.S. government and the White House, with the “secret and binding” agreement.

“Gjurić was invited to Washington so that Rubio, on behalf of the U.S. government and President Donald Trump, could present him with the secret binding agreement for the recognition of Kosovo’s independence. This was the primary purpose of Gjurić’s invitation. Day by day, step by step, Serbia is moving closer to formalizing and officially recognizing Kosovo as an independent state,” the former diplomat told the Beta news agency, as quoted by Express.

Vujovic also claims that the Serbian president is willing to recognize Kosovo’s independence if it serves to maintain his hold on power.
