At the state reception organized by the president, speaker of parliament and prime minister on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the liberation of Kosovo, the former president of Switzerland, Micheline Anne-Marie Calmy-Rey, was also present.

During her speech, she remembered the historical president, Ibrahim Rugova, and the meetings she had with him, where she also emphasized that she still keeps the precious stones that Ibrahim Rugova had given her as a souvenir, reports Zeri.info.

Regarding Kosovo, the former Swiss president, Micheline Anne-Marie Calmy-Rey, said that it is a new country, while relations with Serbia, according to her, are not always easy, if not difficult.

“…Kosovo needs more recognition from other countries to join many organizations, such as the European Council, NATO and the European Union,” she added.

According to Calmy-Rey, the biggest stagnation of Kosovo is the tensions in the north, a very sensitive issue because Serbia, as she said, has intervened in the north of Kosovo and this challenge determines the investment of the entire international community, but also of the authorities and citizens who live in Kosovo.
