A statement by former U.S. State Department spokesperson Matt Miller has ignited strong reactions across the Middle East after he accused Israel of committing war crimes in Gaza.

In an interview with Sky News, featured on the podcast “Trump 100”, Miller said: “I don’t think it’s genocide, but I do think—without a doubt—that Israel has committed war crimes.”

These remarks prompted an immediate and harsh response from Hamas, which described Miller’s words as a “significant admission condemning the occupation and exposing its crimes.” The group further claimed that Miller had not been free to speak openly during his tenure due to U.S. government policy constraints.

Hamas went further, accusing the United States of being an “active partner” in war crimes and the alleged genocide against the Palestinian people, citing ongoing military, financial, and diplomatic support provided to Israel by Washington.

The group interpreted Miller’s comments as evidence of deep U.S.-Israeli complicity and an effort to “obscure the truth about the brutal war against innocent civilians in Gaza.”

As of now, Israeli authorities have not issued an official response to Miller’s statements.
