Former Republican U.S. Senator Ben Sasse has announced that he has been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer, a condition he describes as fatal.
The news was shared on Tuesday through a post on social media platform X, where Sasse emphasized that cancer at this stage is considered a “death sentence.” Despite this, he expressed his determination and realism in facing the disease, stating: “I will not give up without a fight.”
Sasse represented Nebraska in the U.S. Senate from 2015 to 2023 and has had a significant political career.
After leaving the Senate, he was appointed president of the University of Florida but resigned last year to focus on family care, following his wife’s epilepsy diagnosis.
