Russian forces launched a “massive” drone attack on the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv on Sunday, killing four people and injuring several others, Ukrainian officials confirmed.
Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported the attack in a message on Telegram, describing it as an ongoing, intensive assault.
“A massive attack is underway in Kharkiv,” Terekhov wrote, noting that four people had been killed, including one victim whose body was pulled from the rubble.
Regional Governor Oleh Syniehubov stated that 12 people were injured, among them two children aged 11 and 12.
According to authorities, 15 separate strikes were recorded across six districts of the city, located in northeastern Ukraine.
Kharkiv — just 30 kilometers from the Russian border — successfully resisted Russia’s attempt to capture it during the early stages of the more than three-and-a-half-year war, but has remained one of Moscow’s most frequent targets.
Further south, the governor of the Dnipropetrovsk region reported that two people were killed in another Russian attack, this time on the city of Marhanets, Reuters reported.
