California authorities are investigating a deadly shooting that left four people dead and ten others injured during a birthday party on Saturday evening. Local police described the incident as a “targeted attack.”
“Almost 14 individuals were struck by gunfire, and four have been confirmed deceased,” police officials said, noting that information about the shooting in Stockton remains limited.
The shooting reportedly occurred during a child’s birthday celebration, according to Stockton Vice Mayor Jason Lee. Authorities are working to determine the circumstances that led to the tragic event.
“Initial indications suggest this may have been a targeted incident, and investigators are exploring all possibilities,” said the Sheriff’s Office. Police are urging anyone with information, video footage, or witness accounts to contact the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office immediately.
California Governor Gavin Newsom has been informed of the shooting and is monitoring the situation closely.
