Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, stated that peace in Ukraine must be achieved on Kyiv’s terms, reaffirming the European Union’s unwavering support for the country.
She arrived in Kyiv together with António Costa, President of the European Council, on the fourth anniversary of the start of the war.
“In Kyiv for the tenth time since the beginning of the war. To reiterate that Europe stands with Ukraine — financially, militarily, and during this harsh winter. To underline our continued commitment to Ukraine’s just fight. And to send a clear message to both the Ukrainian people and the aggressor: we will not give up until peace is restored — peace on Ukraine’s terms,” von der Leyen wrote on X.
The visit by European leaders reconfirms the EU’s political, financial, and military backing for Ukraine as it continues to face Russian aggression.
