The Kosovo Assembly has officially resumed and concluded the session for the fourth time, as political leaders attempt once again to elect a Speaker and Deputy Speakers, following a series of failed efforts.

During the previous session on Saturday, the ruling Vetëvendosje (VV) party formally nominated Albulena Haxhiu as its candidate for Speaker. However, her nomination failed to gain the necessary support. They have asked for more time to have a consensus with other parties to form the Assembly and the Government. Therefor the next Assembly Session is set to take place on Wednesday, April 23rd, at 10:00.

Out of 120 MPs, only 57 voted in favor, 20 voted against, and 3 abstained. The abstentions came from Nisma Socialdemokrate, a party that has been at the center of speculation about a potential coalition agreement with VV. Meanwhile, MPs from PDK and AAK abstained from the voting process entirely by not participating.

This ongoing impasse highlights the fragile political balance in the new legislative term, with Vetëvendosje struggling to consolidate enough parliamentary backing despite emerging as the leading force in the February 9 elections.

With tensions rising and pressure mounting, all eyes are now on the fifth session to see whether a breakthrough can be reached — or whether the country will edge closer to another constitutional crisis.
