The French Embassy in Kosovo has renewed its call for the perpetrators of the Banjska attack to be brought to justice. The statement comes on the second anniversary of the deadly assault in which Kosovo police officer Afrim Bunjaku was killed.
“Two years after the criminal attack in Banjska, which claimed the life of Sergeant Afrim Bunjaku, our thoughts are with his family. France continues to call for those responsible for this deadly assault to face justice,” the embassy said in an official statement.
The French appeal was echoed by both the German Embassy and the British Embassy, which also urged that those behind the 2023 attack be held accountable.
The Banjska attack, which occurred in northern Kosovo, has been widely condemned by international partners. Western countries continue to stress the importance of accountability and justice as a foundation for stability and long-term peace in the region.
