France has reaffirmed its strong support for NATO’s mission in Kosovo, KFOR, amid growing concerns over misinformation campaigns. The French Ambassador to Kosovo, Olivier Guerot, stated that official Paris will continue to support KFOR with all its capacities, particularly in a context where, as he put it, “disinformation and manipulation of information are becoming systematic.”
His remarks come after members of the Vetëvendosje Movement were accused of misrepresenting a recent Kosovo Security Force (KSF) search-and-rescue operation in Lake Ujman, by editing photos to obscure the presence of KFOR in the operation.
Ambassador Guerot expressed appreciation for Kosovar media, commending them for their accurate reporting of KFOR’s involvement:
“Kosovo’s media correctly reflected KFOR’s role in the efforts to locate the body of the missing person in Lake Ujman.”
Guerot stressed that KFOR has been instrumental since its establishment:
“Since its creation, KFOR has played—and continues to play—an irreplaceable role in ensuring security for everyone. It deserves the respect and gratitude of all regional actors,” he wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
