France has announced that it will deploy its only aircraft carrier, the Charles de Gaulle, to the eastern Mediterranean in response to the rapid escalation of the regional crisis.

French President Emmanuel Macron confirmed the move during a brief national address, stating that France is also sending an air-defense-equipped frigate to Cyprus as part of efforts to strengthen security in the region.

France maintains defense agreements with the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, and Qatar, countries that have recently been targeted by Iran, prompting Paris to reinforce its military presence and support its partners.

Macron emphasized that France will stand by its allies, noting that the country must “stand alongside our friends and partners in the region” and that national responsibility lies first and foremost in ensuring defense and stability.

“We aim to restore peace as soon as possible,” Macron stated, while also expressing hope that the people of Iran will ultimately be able to decide their own future.
