France has announced plans for another urgent meeting to discuss Ukraine and European security. The meeting, scheduled for Wednesday, will include European countries that were absent from the previous day’s discussions, along with Canada.
Countries invited to this round include Norway, Canada, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, the Czech Republic, Greece, Finland, Romania, Sweden, and Belgium.
French President Emmanuel Macron had convened an urgent meeting on Monday in Paris, with leaders from the UK, Germany, Italy, NATO, and the EU. This extraordinary gathering was part of efforts to assess potential security guarantees for Ukraine, discuss how Europe can quickly increase defense spending, and explore swift actions as the US administration accelerates diplomatic efforts to end Russia’s war in Ukraine.
Some countries expressed dissatisfaction over the limited participation in the meeting, with concerns raised about the absence of a full EU high-level summit, according to EU officials.
