France’s reappointed Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu unveiled a new government on Sunday, facing urgent pressure to deliver a budget and stabilize the political environment.
The second Lecornu government within one month consists of 34 ministers, including members from Macron’s centrist camp, allied conservatives, and a few individuals from outside politics. Several ministers also served in previous governments.
Lecornu, reappointed on Friday, emphasized the need for a swift cabinet formation ahead of Monday’s budget deadline. On social media, he wrote:
“A mission-driven government has been appointed to provide France with a budget before the end of the year. Only one thing matters: the interests of the country.”
The transfer of power will take place quietly, “sober, without press and without guests,” according to the Prime Minister’s office.
