A friendly room for victims of domestic violence has been inaugurated at the Leposaviq Police Station.
This was announced by the Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Sveçla, who visited the station along with the Minister of Justice, Albulena Haxhiu.
“Together with the Minister of Justice Albulena Haxhiu, we started the day at the Leposaviq Police Station with the inauguration of the friendly room for victims of domestic violence. With books and various recreational games, children will be kept away from recounting experiences of domestic violence, and victims will find it easier to be interviewed without further burdening the children. Police stations are the first door of hope and solutions for victims of domestic violence. They should always be like this, and we all have a responsibility to work on this, and I encourage this most of all,” Sveçla wrote.
Furthermore, the minister also commented on the lighting of the central police station in support of the global campaign against domestic violence.
“In symbolism of this and in support of the global campaign against domestic violence, we concluded the day with the Director General of the Police, Gazmend Hoxha, and the Director of the Community Policing Division, Zylfije Dema, by lighting the Leposaviq Police Station in orange. Violence is prohibited and intolerable in all its forms and in all cases. As the Ministry of Internal Affairs, together with the Kosovo Police, we have strengthened and are advancing our capacities to be as efficient as possible in preventing, investigating, and addressing cases of violence that are reported. Our commitment to the safety of our citizens remains a priority today and every other day,” the minister wrote.
