The Acting Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has expressed his gratitude to David Baker, the U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for European and NATO Policy, as well as to the United States, for the vital support they have provided to Kosovo and the Kosovo Security Force (FSK) over the years.

Kurti emphasized that the Government of Kosovo remains fully committed to further strengthening its relations with the U.S. in the field of defense, including the defense industry.

Kurti and Baker met during a working dinner hosted by Acting Defense Minister Ejup Maqedonci. Baker was accompanied by Anu Prattipati, the U.S. Chargé d’Affaires in Kosovo.

“Prime Minister Kurti briefed Deputy Assistant Secretary Baker on developments and progress in the country, investments in defense during this mandate, and the need to increase trade exchanges and boost investments. He thanked Mr. Baker and the United States of America for the vital support they have continuously provided to the Republic of Kosovo and the Kosovo Security Force, as well as for the U.S. role in maintaining security and peace. The Prime Minister also reaffirmed the full readiness and determination of the Government of Kosovo to further strengthen ties with the U.S. in the defense field, including the defense industry,” the Prime Minister’s Office stated.

Earlier, Baker also met with Kosovo’s President Vjosa Osmani, followed by a separate meeting with Acting Defense Minister Maqedonci.

Maqedonci reiterated that Kosovo is committed to advancing its partnership with the United States:

“In the context of global dynamics, we discussed security and peace challenges in the region and beyond. We highlighted the significant progress since our last meeting, especially regarding co-production initiatives with the U.S. and the development of Kosovo’s defense industry—a sector with significant growth potential. We reaffirmed the partnership between our two countries, and I emphasized our commitment to further strengthen this cooperation. With the United States as our trusted partner, Kosovo enjoys enhanced security and plays an important role in promoting peace and stability regionally and globally. We remain committed to advancing this partnership to even higher levels!” Maqedonci wrote on Facebook.
