From the Kosovo war to playing in Serie A, the life and career of Ylber Ramadani have been anything but easy. The midfielder of the Albania national football team recently shared his personal story with the official Serie A channel.

Ramadani explained that although he was born in Germany, his father wanted the family to return to Kosovo. Life there was extremely difficult in the early years.

“It wasn’t easy because we had nothing. I helped my father sell fruit, and from there the road to football was very hard. He didn’t believe much that I would become a player, but later he supported me,” Ramadani said.

Today, Ramadani has become a fan favorite at U.S. Lecce, along with teammate Medon Berisha. Supporters of the club have even created a chant dedicated to the two players and their Albanian roots.

“They always sing the chant for me and Medon. I’ve been at Lecce for three years and I know Berisha very well. He has a shot and quality that few players in Serie A have. He creates many chances. We miss him a lot, but I hope he will return soon,” Ramadani added.

So far this Serie A season, Ramadani has played 27 matches and scored one goal, continuing to establish himself as an important figure for Lecce.
