Lawyer Tomë Gashi commented on recent conferences held by the President of Kosovo and Vetëvendosje regarding the Serb List’s request at the Constitutional Court.
Speaking on the FIVE program, Gashi stated that it is not unusual for political leaders to make public statements after submitting comments to the Constitutional Court. He emphasized that such actions do not violate the constitution:
“It is not abnormal, it is not unconstitutional. In a democracy, it is permissible for anyone in such situations to speak publicly after submitting comments to the Court,” he said.
However, Gashi noted that these conferences could be perceived as exerting pressure on the Constitutional Court:
“Certainly, it can be interpreted as added pressure on the Court.”
According to the lawyer, these public appearances are likely more about political positioning for the future:
“I believe that the groundwork is being prepared for the upcoming elections, and perhaps this can even be considered part of a pre-election campaign.”
