The Israeli military announced it will no longer pause operations to allow humanitarian convoys into Gaza, a decision expected to worsen famine and the humanitarian crisis in the northern part of the territory.
No More “Tactical Pauses”
In a statement released on X (Twitter), the Israeli army said that the so-called “local tactical pause” will no longer apply in Gaza, which it now classifies as a high-risk war zone. Most residents have been ordered to evacuate large areas, leaving civilians with little refuge.
Mounting Civilian Casualties
As the army prepares for a potential ground operation—warned against by humanitarian groups and Israel’s own allies—the Gaza Health Ministry reported that five people died of malnutrition and 59 others were killed by Israeli strikes in the past 24 hours alone.
Currently, 80% of Gaza is under evacuation orders, forcing civilians into the remaining fifth of the territory. Even those zones, labeled as “humanitarian areas,” have been repeatedly struck by airstrikes, leaving no truly safe refuge.
Internal Israeli Tensions
Political tensions within Israel are adding to the complexity. Opposition parties and segments of the public have voiced strong resistance to the planned ground assault, further deepening internal divisions within the government.
International Pressure Ignored
Despite mounting international pressure and ceasefire proposals from Hamas, Israel has not responded directly to international mediators. Humanitarian organizations warn of an unprecedented crisis, as thousands of families remain trapped with limited chances of evacuation or aid.
