German Ambassador to Kosovo, Jörn Rohde, in the final days of his mandate, emphasized that Kosovo and Serbia must fulfill their obligations arising from agreements reached within the EU-mediated Dialogue.

Rohde stressed that Kosovo must demonstrate seriousness in implementing its commitments, particularly by initiating the implementation of the Association of Serbian-Majority Municipalities.

“It is in the shared interest of the international community, Kosovo institutions, and all citizens and communities in Kosovo that the dialogue progresses quickly and the path toward EU accession opens. However, each side must fulfill its obligations,” Rohde stated.

He also addressed Kosovo’s domestic political situation:

“Kosovo is primarily obliged to form a new parliament and government. Citizens have been waiting for over six months to have proper representation, and the country is gradually losing financial and political support the longer democratic representation is absent,” he told Kosovo Online.

Rohde reiterated:

“Germany and the EU are ready and willing to assist, but Kosovo must first show that it takes the dialogue and its normalization obligations seriously, including the start of implementing the Association agreement for Serbian-majority municipalities.”
