“We have suggested that the draft be sent to the Constitutional Court to verify whether it is in accordance with the Constitution of Kosovo; this is the first step. This would be sufficient to make membership in the Council of Europe happen quickly, as voting meetings cannot be called very often, and this has been clarified before. Without this step, there is no guarantee for a majority, and a failed vote would be catastrophic,” he said.
Rohde added that he hopes to see Kosovo in the Council of Europe and that the country needs to fulfill its obligations.
“So we want to be positive, we want Kosovo to be in the Council of Europe, but it must fulfill its duties. When Kosovo joins the organization, every citizen can address the European Court of Human Rights as an individual on various issues, including pension rights. This is a task that has not yet been completed from our perspective,” Rohde said on RTK.
