German Chancellor Friedrich Merz expressed gratitude for the warm welcome by Prime Minister Edi Rama during the European Political Community Summit taking place in Tirana. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of close cooperation among European leaders to face common challenges, writes Rks News.
“It is an honor and a pleasure to be here for the first time with this esteemed group of European leaders. Thank you for your greetings, and I look forward to our close cooperation—not only because we need it greatly, but also because we are ready to make it happen,” said Merz.
He reiterated Germany’s support for Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression and stressed the necessity of bringing this conflict to an end.
“We absolutely must have the Americans on our side. We can never replace the Americans and what they do for us, for our freedom, and for our peace,” Merz stated, highlighting the irreplaceable role of the USA in Europe’s security and stability.
