The German club Bayer Leverkusen dedicated a special article to the Franco Foda on the occasion of his 60th birthday, recalling his extensive career as both player and coach.
Born on April 23, 1966, in Mainz, Foda made his mark in German football at a young age, making his Bundesliga debut in 1983. He played for several well-known teams, with a significant chapter of his career at Bayer Leverkusen, where he appeared in 140 matches and scored 10 goals.
With Leverkusen, he achieved one of his greatest successes as a player, winning the DFB-Pokal (German Cup) in 1993 as the team captain. During his career, he also won the same trophy with FC Kaiserslautern and later with VfB Stuttgart.
After retiring as a player, Foda built a strong coaching profile, notably with Sturm Graz, leading them to the Austrian championship. He also managed Austria national football team, achieving a historic milestone at Euro 2020 by reaching the Round of 16 for the first time.
