The German Embassy in Kosovo has called on political parties to work together to form a new government quickly, emphasizing that state interests must come first.
Manuel Sarrazin, Germany’s Special Envoy for the Western Balkans, stressed the importance of an active engagement in dialogue, both from Kosovo and Serbia.
“It would be desirable for a government to be formed as soon as possible and to engage actively in dialogue. However, it is up to Kosovo to decide how the government formation process proceeds,” Sarrazin stated.
The German Embassy fully supports this stance, highlighting how Germany swiftly builds coalition governments after elections to ensure stability.
“In these uncertain times, Kosovo’s political parties must take responsibility and swiftly form a stable government,” the embassy noted, adding that Kosovo’s leadership should prioritize the nation’s future over party interests.
This statement comes as the vote-counting process for Kosovo’s parliamentary elections has concluded, with Vetëvendosje securing the most votes—though not enough for a single-party government. A coalition will be necessary, requiring at least 61 parliamentary votes to establish the new government.
