On the 26th anniversary of Kosovo’s liberation, the German Embassy has declared Kosovo a “success story,” highlighting its growth in stability, development, and international recognition.

In a statement posted on Facebook, the Embassy reaffirmed Germany’s commitment as one of Kosovo’s “closest partners,” supporting its journey towards a “stable and prosperous future.”

The statement commemorated the 26th anniversary of the start of the NATO-led mission in Kosovo on June 12, 1999, which aimed to ensure stability and security. Quoting Lord Robertson, former UK Defence Secretary and NATO Secretary General, the embassy noted that the mission’s objective was clear: “for Milošević’s forces to leave, NATO to enter, and refugees to return.” The Embassy proudly stated that “the mission was accomplished.”

“Since declaring independence in 2008, Kosovo has become a success story, growing in stability, development, and international recognition,” the Embassy’s statement read. “Germany remains one of Kosovo’s closest partners, supporting its path towards a stable and prosperous future.”
