The German Embassy in Pristina has welcomed the decision of the Constitutional Court, which calls on MPs to constitute the Assembly within 30 days and elect the Speaker through an open vote. The embassy expects the Assembly to be constituted within the set deadlines and urges political representatives to act towards reaching a compromise.

“We welcome the procedural decision of the Constitutional Court. It is essential that all political parties and stakeholders respect the Court’s decision and act accordingly, so that the people of Kosovo can finally have the parliament they voted for more than half a year ago. We expect a workable solution within the deadline and urge all political actors to act towards a compromise,” the German Embassy told RTV21.

The embassy also called on political representatives not to pressure the Constitutional Court and to stop attacks against its judges.

“As a key democratic institution in an independent country, it is vital that the Constitutional Court of Kosovo is able to carry out its mandate independently. Personal attacks against judges are unacceptable and undermine the Court’s trust and independence. Accusations against democratically appointed judges should be presented clearly and properly in accordance with due legal procedures. We fully support the Constitutional Court and view with concern politically motivated accusations that hinder its effective functioning—especially at a time when the parliament has yet to fulfill its duties in representing its citizens,” the German Embassy’s statement reads.
