German MP and Kosovo rapporteur in the Bundestag, Thomas Hacker, demands that those responsible for the September 24 attack in Banjskë, Zveçan, be brought to justice. He stated that he and a German delegation will address this issue with Aleksandar Vučić in Belgrade.
Hacker insists on accountability for the terrorist attack in Banjskë, which resulted in the death of Kosovo Police officer Afrim Bunjaku, hailed as a hero.
He emphasizes that the fact that the perpetrators of the attack have not faced justice is unacceptable. Furthermore, he finds it hard to believe that the Serbian president was unaware of the operation.
“Our delegation will discuss this issue when we travel to Belgrade. Fortunately, the attack in Banjskë was not as explosive as initially thought because the Kosovars managed the situation well. After the events in Banjskë, President Vučić promised to pursue those responsible. One of the suspects was detained for one night and then released. We have repeatedly stated that Serbia must investigate this case, even if it involves individuals close to Vučić’s party. It is truly hard to believe from the outside that he knew nothing about the attack in Banjskë, given the power and control Vučić has in Serbia,” Hacker said in an interview.
The Bundestag MP also calls for a new dynamic in the dialogue process between Kosovo and Serbia, expressing criticism regarding how Slovak diplomat Miroslav Lajčak has mediated this process so far.
