Germany has demanded that Russia respond to the offer for a ceasefire by the end of the day, or face new sanctions.

According to AFP, Germany has warned Russia that “time is running out,” urging it to agree to an unconditional 30-day ceasefire with Ukraine by the end of the day, or else face additional sanctions.

“If Moscow does not accept the request, preparations for new sanctions will begin,” said government spokesperson Stefan Kornelius.

It is worth noting that on Sunday, Vladimir Putin rejected another ultimatum from European leaders to agree to a ceasefire with Ukraine or face increased sanctions. Meanwhile, he proposed holding direct negotiations with Kyiv this week, but European leaders did not accept this without a ceasefire, stating that “there cannot be peace under fire.”
